Brass From the Past "Rock & Soul Revue" was conceived in the spring of 2008 by John Tomassone to bring the spectacular sounds of 60s and 70s horn bands back to Chicagoland.
Leveraging access to a vast library of arrangements, true to the originals he has resurrected the music of Chicago (Transit Authority), Blood, Sweat & Tears, Tom Jones, Sam and Dave, The Blues Brothers, Ides of March, Eddie Floyd, Jackie Wilson, Joe Cocker, and James Brown
The full band incorporates 5 horns, a four piece rhythm section and 3 outstanding vocalists. By selectively drawing upon the vast array of musicians offered from Milwaukee to Chicago the band has smoking horn work, screaming trumpet and sax solos, wild guitar delivery plus pulsing drums and bass laying down an eminently danceable groove.
The vocalists provide cover from Chicago's Terry Kath's 25 or 6 to 4, and Tom Jones' sultry delivery of It's Not Unusual to B,S&T's David Clayton-Thomas' You Made Me So Very Happy.
In addition to the horn rock, the band covers Santana, Doobie Brothers, Michael Buble', Bobby Darrin and a wide variety of other artists.
Brass From the Past "Rock & Soul Revue" offers a variety of ensembles in order to fit your needs, including:
