Kurt is a native of Chicago and earned Music Ed and MBA degrees from Eastern Illinois University. It was during the late 70’s (at EIU) when he was exposed to the funk, R&B, and soul bands of the time – Tower Of Power, Earth Wind & Fire, The Brecker Brothers, etc. He became more than a fan and assembled a horn band to perform around campus. In addition to saxophone, he studied composition and arranging, writing charts for both the university jazz ensemble and “club” band.
Over the years Kurt has kept music an active part of his life, performing with area bands, providing back-up to various artists, arranging and composing music, and recording in the studio. He has been with BFTP for several years and has contributed many arrangements to the band’s library.
